Melissa Nelson, PhD
Melissa Nelson, PhD, LPC, NCC is a counselor educator and licensed professional counselor in the state of Wisconsin. She currently works at Rogers Behavioral Health where she oversees clinical education throughout the system to include training on dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT). Within this role, Dr. Nelson works collaboratively with both clinical and administrative leadership to ensure clinical staff provides effective evidence-based care. At Rogers, Dr. Nelson has provided DBT treatment to adolescents within acute levels of care presenting with complex concerns to include mood disorders, trauma-related disorders, substance-use disorders, and co-occurring disorders. Prior to joining Rogers, Dr. Nelson has worked in a variety of clinical settings to include private practice, treatment group homes and corporate consulting working with children, adolescents and adults.
Dr. Nelson received her BS in psychology and MS in educational psychology (community counseling) from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as well as her PhD in counselor education and supervision from Regent University. Dr. Nelson has been intensively trained in dialectical behavior therapy as well as DBT prolonged exposure protocols (DBT+PE).
