Liz Smith

Elizabeth (Liz) Smith has focused on early childhood education for the past 16 years. Currently she is the director of the Early Childhood Program in the Department of Teaching and Learning at UW-Milwaukee’s School of Education. Liz supports the development and preparation of preservice early childhood educators. In the past, Liz taught preprimary and primary grades in both public and private schools. Liz also worked at UWM Children’s Learning Center in several capacities – as an assistant toddler teacher while attending college, as a multi-age kindergarten teacher upon completion of her bachelor’s degree, and later as part of the management team in the role of program coordinator. Liz has a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. Although she now teaches adults, the education of young children is always at the core of her work. Recent summers have been spent working with youth ranging in age from preschool to teens. This will be Liz’s second summer teaching with College for Kids!
