Laila Valters, FLMI, CRCP
Laila joined Northwestern Mutual in 1997 as a customer service representative and has been promoted through successive roles of increasing responsibility, primarily working with the sales organization and sales leaders to continue to advance the culture, sales and community impact of Northwestern Mutual. In June 2020, Laila was named the regional vice president for the Eastern region. In this role, she leads a team of business professionals who have overall accountability for the performance of the Eastern region sales organization across all sales, leadership & culture, financial results, distribution growth and securities supervision. Prior to this role, Laila was vice president of corporate strategy/transformation where she developed a new enterprise-wide approach to change management to enable the enterprise to increase the success of the strategic plan for digital transformation.
Laila holds a BA degree in political science and French from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, where she achieved an Honors Diploma and Phi Beta Kappa. She holds an MA from Marquette University in dispute resolution. She completed the Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Certificate at Cornell in 2021, and Leading Organization Change at Wharton Executive Education in 2018. She is a fellow of Life Management Institute (FLMI), has received the Certified Compliance Regulatory Professional designation through the FINRA Institute at the Wharton School and is S6-, 26-, 7-, 24- and 66-qualified.
Laila has two children, Keeler (17) and Griffin (16), and lives in Wauwatosa, WI, where she is active in school and community activities, including currently serving as vice president for the Education Foundation of Wauwatosa.
