Karen Dettmer

Karen Dettmer, P.E. is Superintendent of the Milwaukee Water Works. She oversees all operations of the utility and 350 professionals in the plants, distribution, business, technology, engineering and water quality sections. Milwaukee Water Works is the largest public utility in the state of Wisconsin and provides drinking water from Lake Michigan to over 860,000 people in 16 communities in Milwaukee, Ozaukee and Waukesha Counties. Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in architectural engineering and a Master of Science in environmental engineering, both from Milwaukee School of Engineering. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin and serves on the board of directors for Menomonee Valley Partners, the board of directors for The Water Council, and the American Water Works Association Water Utility Council.
