Tom Laack

Tom has been an ad-hoc instructor at UWM-SCE since 2008.  He has two decades of professional experience in continuous improvement (Lean), manufacturing, and operations in different aspects of the healthcare industry.  He has helped implement Lean methodologies at more than 55 sites and 12 countries in North America, Europe, and Asia enabling significant improvements in safety, quality, fulfillment, customer satisfaction, inventory, and cost.

Tom is a Transformation Facilitator for the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and is helping to develop the problem-solving and change management skills of healthcare leaders through a common framework. Prior to joining MCW, Tom spent over four years at the BloodCenter of Wisconsin and eleven years at GE Healthcare, holding advancing positions in engineering support, operations management, and continuous improvement leadership.

Tom holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, an MBA from Marquette University, and is Six-Sigma Black Belt certified.
