Susan Marshall is an author, speaker, and president of Executive Advisor, LLC, an independent consulting firm founded in 1997 that specializes in leadership development and executive effectiveness. She has been assisting leaders in public and private sector industry, nonprofit agencies, and public education for nearly 30 years. Her book, How to Grow a Backbone: 10 Strategies for Gaining Power and Influence at Work, has been translated into multiple languages and is especially popular in Asia. She is currently launching Backbone Institute, writing a new book, Of Beauty and Substance: A Backbone Guide for Women, and launching Confidence Clinics for Women.
Her corporate and consulting experience includes work with General Motors, Best Buy, Subaru of America, Harley-Davidson, Apple Computer, Hewitt Associates, the Society of Automotive Engineers, Gensler, GE Healthcare and many others. She has been welcomed as a guest-lecturer at several University of Wisconsin campuses, as well as Marquette University, Alverno College, the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, and the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
For two years, Susan served as a facilitator for the New York City Leadership Academy, formed under Mayor Bloomberg to teach public school principals the skills of transformational leadership. She has also worked with school leaders in Brunei under the Ministry of Education and with several charter schools in Texas.
Locally, Susan wrote the curriculum and taught the Leadership course for the MBA program at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee. She writes a monthly column for Today’s Wisconsin Woman magazine and is a popular speaker on issues ranging from Women Bullying Women to Executive Confidence and Leadership Effectiveness.
