Gul Afshan, PhD
Dr. Afshan earned her doctoral degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She completed her post-doctoral work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. She then became an assistant professor at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). She is the founder of the nation’s first undergraduate degree program in biomolecular engineering. This program brought new students, faculty and community collaborations to MSOE and sustainably increased the overall gender diversity and enrollment of the institution. She is an affiliated professor of Project Lead the Way and an ABET program evaluator. She is the recipient of several teaching awards and currently works as a full professor at MSOE.
