Gina Barton

Gina Barton is the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s criminal justice investigative reporter. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and a master’s degree in liberal studies with concentrations in criminal justice and creative writing from Indiana University-South Bend. Barton is the winner of numerous national journalism awards, including the George Polk Award, an IRE certificate and a Casey Medal, among others. Barton is the author of the book “Fatal Identity.” She is also producer and host of the national Edward R. Murrow Award-winning podcast “Unsolved,” which boasts some four million downloads over three seasons. Barton is a Chicago native. Before coming to the Journal Sentinel, she worked at the Indianapolis Star, the South Bend Tribune and the Huntington (WV) Herald Dispatch.
