Diane Ulezelski

Diane Ulezelski has been an educator in the West Allis-West Milwaukee (WAWM) school district for more than 28 years. She started out teaching elementary art, and after six years at the elementary schools she took a position at the intermediate level teaching art. From there she was appointed the first “Academic Dean of Students” in the District at Frank Lloyd Wright Intermediate School. After two years as dean of students, Diane moved to become principal at Lincoln intermediate School. After six years, she was made district fine arts coordinator for the WAWM school district. Due to budget cuts, this position was reduced and now Diane is in a dual role as district fine arts coordinator and assistant principal at Lane Intermediate School in the WAWM School District.

Diane spends much of her personal time with her husband Nick, children and grandsons as well as her two Bichons. Diane is a practicing artist working in a wide variety of materials. She, along with author Sabley Sabin, had their first professional show titled “The Middle,” which reflected on students’ triumphs and challenges during their time in middle school. Diane created more than 25 original artworks and paired them with writings by Sabley to raise awareness of the roller coaster of emotional turmoil that students experience during this time in their life and the impact it has on those around them.
