Dessa Johnson is the North America diversity and inclusion leader for ManpowerGroup, the world leader in innovative workforce solutions, delivering high-impact solutions that enable clients and people to win in the world of work. Johnson provides direction, guidance and support to the development and implementation of workforce, workplace and marketplace diversity and inclusion initiatives. Since her appointment to this role in 2016, Dessa has led ManpowerGroup’s Business Resource Groups and strategic diversity partnerships and alliances including Catalyst, Human Rights Campaign FUEL Milwaukee, Diversity Best Practices, Elevate and Prospanica to further foster a culture of inclusion to enable all people to succeed in the world of work. Dessa is recognized as an authentic leader with a passion for creating inclusive environments that educate, inspire and help develop the next generation of leaders through mentoring, coaching and relationship building. Johnson has been with ManpowerGroup since 2010, previously serving as lead diversity consultant.
Johnson has held various positions in the human resources field, with specialties in employee relations, college relations, talent development, and diversity and inclusion. She has worked across the manufacturing, hospitality, consulting and financial services industries.
Johnson serves on the board at Sojourner Family Peace Center and currently represents ManpowerGroup on the Elevate ERG Economy Advisory Board, Disability: IN Wisconsin Steering Committee and the CDO Roundtable of Milwaukee. Johnson has also served on the Greater Milwaukee Hispanic Leadership Summit Planning Committee and has been a mentor with the UW-Milwaukee Multicultural Mentoring Program. She holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial and organizational sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a master’s degree in education from Concordia University. Dessa resides in Milwaukee, WI, with her family.
