After a long, successful career as a public school teacher, Darlene continues her work in and advocacy for education. Her background includes graduate studies in writing, math, the arts, and teacher leadership. Along with these areas, she also concentrated on Spanish language and culture as well as a post-retirement degree in interior design.
Currently, Darlene serves as a middle school forensics coach. She also serves in a tutorial capacity for a middle and high school AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) program. When not involved in these efforts, she spends her time working for causes that support equity for all Milwaukee area citizens.
Darlene rounds out her days by volunteering for Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee and the Wisconsin Humane Society. Her personal mission is to make life better for children and animals. This, along with other endeavors, is foremost on her bucket list.
