Anja Blecking

Anja Blecking received her M.S. and Ph.D. in organic chemistry in Germany and joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UW-Milwaukee (UWM) in 2007 after moving to the US.

She combines her passion about science and science education in her research and in the undergraduate chemistry courses she teaches. Anja believes that it is very important to involve students of any age actively in their own learning process through hands-on activities, science labs and creative visualization and modeling techniques.

Anja received a UWM Outstanding Teaching Award in 2012 and is a big advocate of making science education accessible for everybody. She is also very involved in science outreach and professional development activities with area school districts through the Science House Initiative at UWM, which she co-founded.
