WiSE – Unconscious Bias – August 6

What Is Unconscious Bias? Why Does it Matter?

The term unconscious bias sounds ominous and out of our control. Don’t worry! Learn how the brain develops these biases and what you can do to make them conscious and work with them. It’s when we don’t know that biases exist and how they are affecting our perceptions that difficulties may arise.

Want to explore before the meeting? Take one of the free Project Implicit assessments here (FYI, unconscious bias is also known as implicit stereotypes).

Key ideas:
1) Learn how biases develop and affect our perceptions
2) Differentiate between biases that help and biases that hinder
3) Explore how to short-circuit a bias and make conscious decisions

Dates and locations to be announced.
