Valuing Great Lakes Recreation and Ecosystems
The Great Lakes played a vital role in the expansion of the United States’ industrial economy, but with the shift to a service economy, many of the ecosystem and recreational services have become vital sources of revenue for communities and for quality of life. This presentation covers how economists place values on the seemingly priceless resources of the Great Lakes beaches, fisheries and habitats and provides examples.
