The Story of Blue Note Records
From its humble beginning in 1939 as a tiny independent jazz label, Blue Note developed into a legendary source of much of the finest in modern jazz, especially for the music it produced during the 50’s and 60’s. In this course we will look first at the evolution of the label and how it captured the zeitgeist of the era through sound and sight. Then we will focus on some of the key musicians who gave Blue Note its distinctive sound and its indelible place in the jazz pantheon.
