The Romanovs and Imperial Splendor

At one time the Russian court was the richest and most elaborate in the world. From art to jewelry to banquets, the Romanovs were enfolded in unequaled visual glory. Examining the artifacts of that culture illuminates the autocratic power that gave the tsar such prominence. The second class highlights the Jeweler to the Tsars. The greatest jewelers are most closely associated with the Romanovs; providing adornments for the tsarist court set fashions for European royal families.
