We will discuss The Faithful Gardener: A Wise Tale About That Which Can Never Die by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. As a psychoanalyst, Estés has dedicated several decades to post-trauma recovery, especially for victims of war, mass shootings, and terrorist attacks. Estés is also a cantadora, a keeper of the old stories. It is not surprising then that The Faithful Gardener blends family history and storytelling in an uplifting narrative about loss, survival, and renewal. I encourage participants to read the book before class. Don’t worry, though; it is a quick, enjoyable read.
