SHRM-PC/SHRM-SCP Test Prep

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is an organization of more than 300,000 human resource professionals in 165 countries which impacts the lives of more than 115 million workers and families globally. 

SHRM has established two behavioral competency-based certifications: SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). Prerequisites

See SHRM.org for certification requirements and eligibility to take SHRM certification exams.

In general, these requirements include:

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification applicants must show that they have worked in an HR role for more than 1,000 hours within a calendar year, which equates to one year of experience.
  • HR experience may be in an HR-exempt or nonexempt capacity.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification applicants with a graduate degree (or global equivalency) in HR must currently be employed in an HR role.
  • HR experience may be classified directly as working in an HR role or indirectly by consulting, educating or researching HR practices linked specifically to human resource management.
  • SHRM membership is not required.
