Setting Boundaries, Honoring Self
We all have had professional and personal relationships where “I just need to be there always, every time, for this person.” You answer the phone no matter what time of day or night, buy groceries and take on other’s responsibilities. Does this sound familiar?
Great leaders show up! They are open and emotionally available to their staff and families whenever they are needed. But, without boundaries, being open and available can quickly turn into becoming overwhelmed, burnt out and even resentful. Boundaries are self-imposed limits that teach others how to interact with us in healthy ways. By defining what we can and cannot do, we protect our energy so we can be truly present when we are most needed. Dr. Lassiter’s session might be the honest, heartfelt wake-up call we all need.
