Representation in Television: The Sci-Fi/Fantasy Genre

Gr. 9-12

Doctor Who, Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer have given us compelling characters and powerful narratives in TV – but how do they stack up in terms of representation?

Television screenings from well- known series in the sci-fi and fantasy genres will set the stage as we discuss how women, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and people with disabilities are portrayed on TV. Please note that all episodes screened will be rated TV1-14 or below.
