European Symbolism

A late 19th century link between Romanticiam and Surrealism, Symbolism turned from realism and rationalism to inner concerns with a spiritual, mystical focus on memory, dreams, the unconscious, imagination and death. We take a look at French and Belgian painters as well as the Norwegian Edvard Munch.
