Cajun Song Traditions

Cajun music ranks among North America’s most misunderstood music traditions. With roots dating back as far as the 12th century, it has survived multiple transatlantic displacements, a 19th century cultural metamorphosis, anti-francophone legislation and continues to live and evolve today. Explore Cajun music’s origins and its continued evolution in the 20th and 21st centuries.
