Architecture: Emerging Digital Technology – VR: Visualization, Interaction & Collaboration

ARCH 583

This three-unit credit course offers you the possibility of experiencing your design idea in an interactive and semi-immersive virtual interface during the design process. It explores XR technology as an instrument for decision-making during the process of design for presenting interactive reviews to clients or professors and for visualizing final projects presentation. The course is organized and presented with a practical theoretical format as a design studio.

The course is divided into three modules: Module I Conceptual Visualization, Module II Interaction and Module III Collaboration. In Module I, proposals of spatial and formal conceptualization are carried out by using Tilt Brush and Blocks. In Module II, three ways of exporting the model to interact and visualize virtual tours and navigate virtual models will be implemented: EnscapeTM, Kubity Go and Roundme. In Module III, the center of the course uses XR for collaborative design, experimenting with A360, BIM 360 Team, Fusion and Altspace VR.

Prerequisites

Participants must know how to 3D model, using SketchUp, Revit, 3DS Max or Rhino.
