Did you know?…You may be passing up jobs in business that pay an average of $65,000-$104,300 per year!
According to an article published last month by CNBC, there were over 61,000 job postings in Glassdoor for data analysts, business analysts and project managers – jobs that pay an average of $65,000-$104,300 per year. Even though people age 23 to 38 (millennials) account for more than 35% of the current workforce, only 2% of the applicants for these jobs were millennials. Why? One reason may be that college graduates often lack the skills required to qualify for these jobs.
The Forbes article “How Millennials Are Bridging the Skills Gap” discusses the supplemental education gained through distance learning, self-education and skilled/semi-skilled trades training, indicating that the demand for skilled trades is growing.
For those with interests or experience in data, business analysis or project management, professional development courses and certificates can help you land jobs in software development, manufacturing, human services and many other areas. Simply being in class with others from a variety of businesses and nonprofits can spark new ideas, help refine personal goals and make new connections.
