Assistant Professor of Architecture Trudy Watt has joined the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center as an Ideas Challenge Faculty Fellow. Watt is the school’s first faculty named to the center’s roster of Fellows, who are recognized for teaching practices that transform the educational experience for UWM students preparing for careers in health sciences, engineering, architecture and other fields. Watt’s Fellowship experiences include a new interprofessional collaboration with faculty from engineering and dance at UW-Milwaukee and faculty from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and a January 2020 visit to the Stanford school where she participated in the school’s Teaching and Learning Studio. “The experiential team-based teaching methods I learned,” she explained, “completely transformed the way I’m offering design fundamentals in ARCH 320.” Watt launched the course this semester with team-building exercises and continues to highlight participatory learning through design sprints, workshops and student collaboration.
