Lecture Summary

BIO

Jeff Sponcia, Manager of Planning at Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS), earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Marquette University in Writing Intensive English and also History. After working for seven years combined in Internet Marketing in the automotive industry and as a Business Analyst for a software company, Jeff earned his Master’s Degree in Geography from UW-Milwaukee. He has worked for the last eight years for MCTS in Transit Planning and has embraced a reduced dependence on the automobile. Permanently relocating from Waukesha to the heart of Silver City on Milwaukee’s near South Side, Jeff spent the summer of 2019 exploring the multiple modes of transit the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County now offer. His virtually car-free summer was highlighted by an eight-hour, 43-mile non-stop Bublr Bike ride to all 87 Bublr stations in the Milwaukee area on the same evening. A determined public servant with a passion for raising public awareness of MCTS’ vast network of bus routes, Jeff will provide insight into enjoying the array of options Milwaukee’s transportation scene offers, including omnipresent modes MCTS, Bublr bikes and Lime e-scooters.
