SARUP EXTERNSHIPS:

Sign-ups for SARUP Externship program are now available. The program offers undergraduate and graduate architecture and urban planning students a job shadowing experience in a variety of professional settings. Participating students typically spend one week in an office or related professional organization. More details about the program can be found here. Externships are typically offered in Milwaukee, Madison, regionally, or in Chicago. We can assist with externships in other locations if you have access to your own housing accommodations. SARUP INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

390/790 Internship/Field Experience
Hybrid, 9-5:00 PM

An internship is a professional learning experience that enables students to apply the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom to the practice setting. This mentored placement engages a Faculty Advisor and a professional supervisor to support the student in completion of 120 hours of work. The course is designed to enhance the professional experience by compelling the student to analyze the experience through reflections, journal submission, a paper and final presentation. Internships will occur during the full 3 weeks in January (January 3-20).

She believes good design affects one’s life at every moment. Qianqian oversees the strategic planning, design, and construction for a variety of projects. Qianqian is also a mentor to her colleagues, inspiring her team with confidence and encouraging them to share their voices in design process to drive design diversity and innovation that resonates with our clients. Qianqian offers a depth of experience and a thoughtful design methodology that builds upon the core values at RINKA.

This lecture will explores the domestic realm through the front porch. Featuring projects in Miami, FL, the location of Studio Barnes, this lecture highlights themes such as celebration, ritual, family, and love through Black spatial occupation of the front porch. Tangent to the lecture is a film, You Can Always Come Home that furthers the investigation and liberation Blackness in the architected environment. After his initial presentation, Barnes will be joined by a faculty respondent for an interdisciplinary conversation about her remarks and to answer any audience questions

Members of the UWM community are invited to take part in the city-wide Fall Make a Difference Day on Saturday, November 6th, 2021. Make a Difference Day is a citywide volunteer event where volunteers across Milwaukee help with neighborhood clean-ups or winterize the homes of local older adults who need assistance!
