Department of Urban Planning Lecture
Alan Ehrenhalt served as the Charles Causier Memorial Lecturer on April 24, 2017. Ehrenhalt is a journalist and columnist with a special interest in urban trends and metropolitan politics. He recently authored The Great Inversion and the Future of the American City (2012). In February 2017, he reviewed in the New York Times Sunday Book Review section The New Brooklyn: What It Takes to Bring a City Back by Kay S. Hymowitz. Some of his recent columns in Governing magazine have included “The Limits of Café Urbanism” (March 2017), “Shopping Inside Is Out” (February 2017), “Boulevard Dreams” (December 2016) and “The Reality of Mayors’ Economic Promises” (November 2016).
The Charles Causier Memorial Lecture is held annually in honor of the late alumnus and colleague. Charles Causier worked passionately as a professional planner, citizen planner and inspirational educator.
