PLAY with the Rules
October 11-13, 2018
UWM-SARUP, in partnership with eu:a, HGA, and WORKSHOP architects

The School of Architecture & Urban Planning at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM-SARUP) is hosting the 2018 Fall Conference for the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) from October 11-13, 2018. Co-chaired by UWM-SARUP faculty Jasmine Benyamin, Nikole Bouchard, Whitney Moon, Kyle Reynolds & Mo Zell, over 150 architects and scholars from around the world will be engaging in a dialogue around the conference theme “PLAY with the Rules.” In addition to numerous paper presentations organized around eight board game-inspired categories, moderated by invited “disrupters,” the conference is also featuring two different exhibitions of selected design competition entries:
1) THE PORTMANTEAU (suitcase) EXHIBIT at the Milwaukee Art Museum (MAM)
October 11 – November 4, 2018;
2) THE PAVILION EXHIBIT at Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum, October 11 – November 11, 2018. In addition, the winning Play Pavilion entry – Mies.zip: Compressed Constructions, designed by James Lowder (The Cooper Union) & Misako Murata (University of Pennsylvania) – has been constructed, and will be installed in the courtyard at UWM-SARUP until late 2019.
