Jessie is a creative designer who has a strong passion for creativity. Jessie is currently a senior at UW-Milwaukee, majoring in Design and Visual Communication. She strives to create innovative and purposeful design while aiming for precision and believes that every experience provides a significant learning outcome(s). Blessed this past spring, she was the recipient of the 2018 Design and Visual Communications Scholarship.
Jessie also holds multiple roles within the university besides a student. She is the vice president of Milwaukee’s First, a student organization for first generation students. She is also the Lawton assistant as well as a Lawton Scholars Success Advocate for a program that assists minority students. She’s previously had the privilege to give tours of the art and design department and was a classroom assistant for introductory design courses. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, trying out new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends. In the summer, she volunteers to teach beginner piano back at her home church.
She also continuously likes to explore new media’s and different ways of creating. Recently Jessie has gotten back into acrylic and watercolor painting and enjoys the physical work as opposed to always working on a computer. Her painting skills has also transferred to makeup as she is enjoying creating looks such as animals, characters, and famous paintings. Hand lettering has also entered her radar as yet another creative outlet. Her last project she worked on is a card series with food photography and food typography.
Fashion and typography was manipulated to create a high end look but at the same time playful. As a designer and passion for cosmetics and fashion, this project is a reminder of who I am and who I aspire to be.
