Your Schedule<\/h1><\/header>\n\n\n

You can enroll in courses or make changes to your course schedule in PAWS or Stellic before classes begin or during the appropriate add\/drop periods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Always double-check the changes you make in PAWS by reviewing\u00a0my class schedule\u00a0<\/strong>in the\u00a0Academics\u00a0<\/em>section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can use Stellic<\/a> and the academic catalog<\/a> to understand your degree requirements, and your advisor is available to help you set and achieve your academic goals, connect with campus resources, and navigate degree requirements. Online Courses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Online Synchronous<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Courses use a web conferencing tool (like Collaborate Ultra, Zoom, or Teams) to hold class sessions virtually. Students should log in with the web conferencing tool at the specified dates and times of the class sessions. Instructors may<\/em> record each class session and make it available to students, but it is best to participate live to get one\u2019s questions answered right away and stay on track with the class schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Online Asynchronous<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Courses allow students to log into Canvas to do coursework at the times of their choice. Usually asynchronous course components (e.g., online discussions, watching video lectures, taking quizzes) have due dates; this permits the class to move as a group through the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blended or Hybrid<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Courses include both online learning activities and some in-person class sessions. However, these in-person meetings are fewer than would occur in a traditional, fully face-to-face course. The reduced classroom time is balanced with time spent on online learning activities. The online learning component is often delivered asynchronously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For online components, please review your schedule carefully to see if the teaching will be synchronous<\/strong> (you have to be logged in to the course at a certain day and time).  For these courses, you will see \u201cONLINE WEB\u201d as the location, but there will be a day\/time listed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asynchronous<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Online courses do not require you to login at a specified day\/time.  They will also appear with \u201cONLINE WEB\u201d as the location, but they will not have meeting times listed or will have TBA listed under \u201cDays & Times\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some blended\/hybrid courses are splitting enrollment between two or more meeting days (ex. last names A-L meet on Tuesdays, last names M-Z meet on Thursdays). These details are currently being added to the course notes. You will see them by clicking on the section number on the course in your schedule.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n

Other Course Options<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Online Classes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In addition to \u201cbrick and mortar\u201d or in-person classes, UWM has offerings available either entirely online or in a \u201chybrid\u201d fashion that combines online and in-person instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Online courses in the Associates track are offered through the UW College Courses Online exchange.  Associate track students will enroll in CGS courses with an \u201cE\u201d section code within PAWS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Online classes often have additional or alternative fees, which will be noted on our Course Fees by Term<\/a> site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Off-Campus Classes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The location of \u201cOff-Campus\u201d classes are noted in course notes on the schedule, and typically mention the distance from the main Milwaukee campus. Transportation to and from off-campus courses are solely the responsibility of the student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Late Starting Classes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Some classes begin later than the first day of the semester. These courses have different add\/drop deadlines and may be an option for students who need to add a course after the semester\u2019s traditional add deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
