Photo of an accessible stairwell in Milwaukee Idea Home

Essential Description (Caption):

This photograph features railings on both sides of a basement stairwell and grip-tape on the edge of each step. The double railings are large and wooden, enabling increased balance and stability of the user. The black, abrasive strips attached on the ends of each step are slip-resistant. The strips are composed of a gritty, textured material that increases tread and traction on the wooden steps. This purpose of the accessible stairwell is to increase safety and decrease the chances of falls occurring on the stairs. The strips comply with accessibility standards and provide a good safety precaution for homeowners of all ages.

Detailed Description (Description):

This is a photograph leading down a flight of stairs. There are 7 stairs shown, leading down to another floor. Each stair is a light colored wood with a thin black strip at the edge. There is a white wall on each side of the stairwell wtih a light colored wooden railing on both sides. The bottom of the stairwell is dimly lit, but there appears to be two brown rugs at the end of the stairs. There is also a corner of a whote laundry basket in the back of the photograph.
