Qualtrics – UWM’s Online Survey Tool<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

About Qualtrics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

UWM\u2019s enterprise Survey Instrument is available to all UWM faculty, staff and students with an active ePanther ID and password. The Web-based Survey Instrument allows the campus community to create and distribute surveys, collect and store data, and produce reports. Use of the software is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The software is powered by Qualtrics, a nationally-respected survey instrument software company. Survey creation and distribution, data collection and storage, and reporting are hosted by Qualtrics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To ensure security of survey data, the UWM Information Security Office has reviewed the process and procedures for the capture and storage of data. They have determined that the security and privacy provided is fully compliant with the UWM Security Policy. This is the only survey software that is pre-approved meeting IRB privacy requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n

Compliance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Some surveys may be considered human subject research and require Institutional Review Board approval prior to the initiation of the survey.\u00a0 In general, if your survey data is only being collected for a class project, quality improvement project, departmental evaluation, or social use, IRB approval may not be needed.\u00a0 However, if this survey is for a research project involving (1) a systematic investigation with (2) the goal of creating generalizable knowledge (i.e. being able to apply the data to a broader population and plan to publish or present the findings), IRB approval may be required. Please contact the Institutional Review Board<\/a> for specific information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use of the survey instrument service is subject to the same policies and guidelines for the use of UWM computing resources as other services on campus. Please refer to the UWM Computing Policy and Guidelines<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
