UWM Zilber School of Public Health wins prestigious MANDI Award for impact in the community

Wednesday was a big night for the UW-Milwaukee Joseph J. Zilber School of Public Health. We received the 2015 State Farm Building Blocks MANDI Award.

This was the 15th year the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC – a cornerstone community development organization) has honored innovation in Milwaukee neighborhood development.
So many vital, change-making people and organizations were nominated this year, and it was a great privilege to be recognized as a finalist among them as making a difference through our building. It was even more remarkable to win!

Here is coverage of the awards from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and the Milwaukee Neighborhood News Network.

You can read Dean Magda Peck’s (edited) one minute acceptance remarks here, and below are photos of staff, students, and alumni who represented the UWM Zilber School of Public Health at the MANDI Awards ceremony. You can see more photos of the event here.

None of this would have been possible without the contributions of all of our faculty, students, staff, alumni, donors, and community partners. They have all had a hand in making the UW-Milwaukee Zilber School of Public Health a valued and vital part of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and beyond. After just 30 months in this amazing place, we’re only getting started!
