Hoan Alone: Personal Stories from the Bridge
Film screening and Q&A with film producer and director Aaron Johnson. Panel discussion will follow.

The Hoan Bridge is one of Milwaukee’s most recognizable landmarks. This animated documentary explores the issues of the bridge and suicide through three intimate interviews. With suicide being a leading cause of death among young adults, join us for a discussion about this public health issue. Learn more about the film.

Free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Public Health Research Seminar: Different Smokes for Different Folks – Health Disparities in a New Tobacco Landscape

The tobacco marketplace in the United States is increasingly diverse. This presentation will: 1) Highlight epidemiological and community mapping studies in New York City that examined how the promotion of tobacco products with varying levels of risk differs across neighborhoods, and 2) Estimate the potential impact on health disparities.

This seminar is offered in partnership with the Wisconsin African American Tobacco Prevention Network and the Wisconsin Tobacco Prevention and Poverty Network.

In Honor of World Day of Physical Activity, and National Public Health Week, UREC is partnering with Exercise is Medicine on Campus and the School of Public Health to offer a day full of Group X. Mini classes will be offered for students to pop in and try. There will be prize drawings, refreshments and plenty of time to socialize with instructors.
