Zilber College of Public Health Seminar – How a Public Health Partnership to Support Wisconsin Veterans Paved the Way for Veteran Suicide Prevention Research

Presented by:
Lindsay Emer, PhD, Research Scientist
Division of Public Health, Wisconsin Department of Health Services
Veterans in Wisconsin die by suicide at a much higher rate than non-veterans. In response, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) and the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) have partnered to bring a public health approach to veteran suicide prevention initiatives at WDVA. During this seminar, Dr. Emer will discuss these initiatives and detail how data from the Wisconsin Violent Death Reporting System is driving suicide prevention efforts at WDVA and related veteran suicide prevention research at the DHS.
