Abel Mathew, a third-year clinical psychology doctoral student, won 1st place at UWM’s second\u00a0annual\u00a0Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.<\/p>\n

The competition was hosted by the\u00a0Graduate School and the\u00a0Office of Research. Originally developed by the University of Queensland, the purpose of the competition is to have students cultivate their presentation and\u00a0research communication skills, while effectively explaining their research projects in three minutes to a non-specialist audience. The competition drew\u00a0approximately\u00a070 competitors, who participated in qualifying rounds during March.<\/p>\n

Fourteen finalists were chosen and presented their\u00a03MT\u00a0talks on April 10th in the UWM Union in front of 4 judges. As a winner, Abel was awarded a\u00a0$1,500 prize.<\/p>\n

This is the second time UWM’s Department of Psychology has obtained 1st place at the\u00a03MT\u00a0competition. Congratulations to Abel for representing the department so well!<\/p>\n
