Our mission is threefold:
Be a center of excellence in culturally sensitive training
The UWM Psychology Clinic is a training facility operated within the UWM Psychology Department. The Psychology Clinic staff is comprised of doctoral students in the clinical psychology PhD training program. All graduate students receive their first three years of supervised experience in the Clinic, and more advanced graduate students may elect to continue to see clients in the Clinic as well. Student therapists are closely supervised by licensed Clinical Psychology faculty. All therapy rooms have adjoining observation rooms for live observation and recording of therapy and assessment sessions, to enable this supervision. The Psychology Clinic is committed to the concept of cultural humility in training and services.
Offer affordable, evidenced-based psychological care
The Psychology Clinic is committed to providing the highest standard of care through evidence-based clinical services. Our approach is grounded in the latest psychological research, ensuring that every intervention and treatment plan is supported by scientific evidence. We tailor our therapeutic methods to meet the unique needs of each client, utilizing proven modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Our goal is to help clients build evidence-based psychotherapeutic strategies, enhance emotional resilience, and address barriers that hinder personal growth and well-being.
Commitment to Diversity
The Psychology Clinic embraces the concept of human diversity and strives to provide culturally-conscious care to all. We embrace an inclusive and inter-sectional definition of diversity, including age, culture, developmental and acquired disabilities, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, national origin, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic differences. We denounce all forms of racism, violence and oppression and believe that every person who enters our clinic has the right to feel safe, respected, and valued.
