What are UWM Safety Alerts?
UWM Safety Alerts provide students, faculty, and staff with notifications via text message and/or email in the event of a campus emergency. Students, faculty and staff are automatically signed up for UWM Safety Alert e-mails by having a UWM email. Students are automatically enrolled in text alerts by adding a cell phone number in the cell phone section of their PAWS account. However, faculty and staff need to sign up for text alerts. How to Get UWM Safety Alerts Document
Campus emergencies include credible, life-threatening or serious incidents that present imminent danger or ongoing and continuous threats to the campus community. UWM Safety Alerts may also be used in situations that are dangerous or life threatening, including criminal activity, weather warnings and environmental safety concerns. At no time will it be used to distribute advertising or other unsolicited content.

- Subscribers to UWM Safety Alert text messages will pay no fees for the service, other than normal fees charged by their mobile service provider for receiving text messages.
***NOTE*** All students, faculty members and staff have been automatically entered into the new system using their UWM email addresses. No action is needed to receive UWM Saftey Alerts at your uwm.edu email address.
