Now is a great time to look into summer research opportunities on other campuses. Many institutions host “REU” sites (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) that are funded by the National Science Foundation and intended to immerse bright and motivated undergraduates in meaningful research experiences over the summer months.  You can search the NSF REU database for programs or do some digging to find similar programs nationwide.
