Dr. Thomas A. LaVeist<\/a>, an international expert, will show his new documentary \u201cThe Skin You Are In\u201d, speak and take questions. African Americans suffer from health disparities in all of the top diseases. It is critically important to continue the dialogue on the health effects of racism and to explore solutions that can be applied.<\/p>\n

The goal of the event is to engage the health workforce (health department workers, nurses, doctors, and other frontline workers) in discussion and thinking about equity through the lens of race. While there is extensive data around racism and equity, changing the systems and practices has not been achieved. This event is organized by RH3, a collaborative science initiative on Racism and Health (RH) that includes members from UWM, City of Milwaukee, and Milwaukee County (the 3).<\/p>\n

Our mission is to connect knowledge and action toward eliminating the influence of racism on health and equity. Team members are deeply engaged in the community and value working with\/learning from the broader health workforce through shared experience and feedback around making changes needed to de-link racism and health.<\/p>\n
