Dr. Darmody is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program Director. She is certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in adult health. Areas of teaching expertise include medical surgical nursing (adult health), nursing leadership/management, and CNS practicum courses.  Administrative responsibility as DNP Program Director includes the Post-Masters DNP, DNP/MBA, and BS-DNP with four tracks including CNS, FNP, Nursing Systems Leadership, and Community Health.

Dr. Darmody collaborates with CNS preceptors in multiple health care settings and systems to facilitate clinical experiences for CNS practicum students.  She has served as advisor for many MS-CNS students and several of these CNS students have presented their clinical projects at local, state, and national conferences.  Dr. Darmody serves as advisor or committee member for DNP students and also committee member for PhD students.

Previous experience includes medical surgical nursing, emergency nursing, nurse manager of emergency and outpatient units, and nursing faculty in a BSN program.

Previous research includes a descriptive study of CNS practice in acute care settings.

Research interests include CNS practice, adult health, evidence based practice, quality and safety in acute care, and health services research.

Dr. Darmody is a charter member of the Wisconsin Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (WIACNS) since initiated in 2007 and has served in the offices of President-Elect (2010), President (2011), and Past President (2012).
