Mom. Wife. Nurse. Volunteer. Servant.

Lizzie Dellemann (’11) is like many of our 9,000+ nursing alumni – she juggles a variety of responsibilities daily, all of which relate to helping others. As a mother of four children, Lizzie is a Neuro Intensive Care Unit RN and a Data Support Specialist in Quality Management at Aurora St. Luke’s, specializing in stroke patients. Whether it is bedside with a patient during the most traumatic time of their life, as a Girl Scout Troop leader, or as a volunteer at a blood pressure clinic, Lizzie is drawn to helping others.

A two-time alumna of the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (UWM), Lizzie first graduated from the UWM School of Education in 2004. While teaching at an in-patient mental health hospital, Lizzie found herself drawn to be more involved with the patients and their care. In 2009, she decided to go back to school to become a nurse. Lizzie intentionally came back to UWM “because of the diversity on campus and how deeply rooted the College of Nursing is throughout the city of Milwaukee.” Soon after graduating, she decided she wanted to give back to the UWM nursing students and the College community.

In 2012, as a new alumna, Lizzie joined the Alumni Chapter Board of the UWM College of Nursing. A few years later she began leading the chapter as its president. Her mission as President of the College of Nursing Alumni Chapter is to connect and engage alumni with nursing students and the College community. Within her tenure as Board President, she has provided leadership to various projects/enterprises such as: bi-annual discussions with pre-nursing students, notes of encouragement to the new graduates, coordination of volunteers at events such as the Wisconsin State Fair Blood Pressure clinic and the Silver Spring Clean-up Day, sponsored reception at Building Bridges Research Conference (Milwaukee, WI) and exhibition booths at various College-sponsored events. There are many levels of opportunity in which alumni can participate and advocate for the UWM College of Nursing.

Currently, the Alumni Chapter is seeking board members and/or volunteers for various opportunities. For further information on getting involved, please contact
