Keynote address by Dr. Lucy Mkandawire-Valhmu. Author of the new book, Cultural Safety, Healthcare and Vulnerable Populations, Dr. Mkandawire-Valhmu is an associate professor in the College of Nursing, at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her areas of research and expertise include violence in the lives of women in Southern Africa, health care of immigrants and refugees, community health nursing, and utilization and application of feminist methodology particularly in research with women living in low-income communities.



Welcome by Wisconsin Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes, advocate for environmental justice and social reform.






Closing remarks by Dr. Joan M. Prince, UWM Vice Chancellor of Global Inclusion and Engagement, and Ambassador Emeritus and Alternate Representative to the 67th General Assembly of the United Nations.
