Sarah MacDonald, PhD

Sarah MacDonald, PhD, is an expert facilitator, inclusive teaching consultant, and practitioner of conflict transformation. At UWM, her full-time role is in the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) as the Training and Dispute Resolution Specialist. In this role, she provides consultations, trainings, and other events to foster a campus culture of inclusion and belonging. She also facilitates informal conflict resolution processes and supports the UWM community in engaging conflict constructively for the sake of learning and positive change. Earlier in her life, Sarah worked internationally in peacebuilding and nonviolent activism. This work inspired her PhD research, focused on ethical practices of solidarity. She also has significant experience in educational development, most recently at UWM’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). From 2018–2023, Sarah worked as a CETL consultant and inclusive teaching specialist. Her signature achievement was to develop Inclusive Teaching Toward Justice, an in-depth training she continues to facilitate regularly.
