Located within the heart of Westlawn, Wisconsin’s largest subsidized housing development and within the walls of Silver Spring Neighborhood Center, the UWM Silver Spring Community Nursing Center staff provide maintain strong partnerships and advocate for community health and well-being.
Nurse clinicians partner with program managers, coordinators, staff, and volunteers in the neighborhood center to coordinate health education and prevention services. College of Nursing and other health professional students benefit from having their community health clinical experiences at the community nursing center, the neighborhood center, and in the surrounding community.
A range of health services provided at the Silver Spring Community Nursing Center:
- Health information and referral to community resources
- Health screening, education, and monitoring for chronic conditions
- Health care education and guidance
- Collaborative activities with community partners focused on population health
