50th Anniversary Celebrations Review of Events

April 2016
On Saturday April 16, 2016 the College welcomed over 300 guests to join in celebration at the 50th Anniversary Gala, held at the UWM Union Ballroom.  Alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of the College enjoyed a cocktail reception, dinner, program and music.  Dean Lundeen was surprised with the annoucement of the endowed fund “Lundeen Fund for Community Nursing Care & Education,” of $65,000.

On Friday April 15, 2016 the College celebrated 50 Distinguished Alumni who have contributed to the field of nursing in extraordinary ways.  Approximately 350 guests attended the evening reception and awards ceremony. See the full list of honorees here.

On Thursday April 14, 2016 the College celebrated 50 years of Community Impact with over 140 of our partners and friends from the nursing centers, agencies and organizations.  Guest speaker, Mayor Tom Barrett declared April 14, 2016 the official UWM College of Nursing Day for the City of Milwaukee.

March 2016
The College hosted over 100 attendees at the inaugural Suzanne Feetham Distinguished Lecture on March 16, 2016 with Dr. Kathleen Knafl. The lecture took place the day prior to Midwest Nursing Research Society Conference (MNRS), held in Milwaukee, WI.

December 2015
The College celebrated 50 years of greatness with our students on December 2, 2016.  At the Birthday Celebration Students enjoyed cupcakes, games and prizes along side faculty, staff and campus leadership who attended.

November 2015
The College celebrated our preceptor and agency partners by hosting the “Diving Deeper into the Preceptor Process: Strategies to Create Deeper Learning with Students” with speaker Connie Schroeder, UWM Faculty and National Consultant. Attendees received CEUs for participation.

October 2015
On October 15, 2015 over 100 College of Nursing students, alumni, staff and friends participated in UWM’s 11th Annual PantherProwl 2015 which raises money for student scholarships.  The College was one of the top fundraising teams!
