Sexual Assault Prevention (SAP) Online Training

At University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, we believe in the importance of creating a safe and healthy environment for all of our community members. To that end, we have partnered with EVERFI to provide trainings that will help us all be informed on topics vital to achieving our goal. These trainings, in addition to being highly interactive and engaging, are based in research around the best practices for healthy communities.

Completion of the Sexual Assault Prevention course is required for all incoming students. Further information will be sent by email. Contact uwm-violenceprevention@uwm.edu with any questions or concerns about this training.

Care for Others

Bringing in the Bystander

Participants in BITB College will come to understand that everyone has an important role to play in the intervention and prevention of sexual violence and relationship violence. Although most of us who live in the University community will not be survivors or perpetrators of sexual violence, each of us will be a bystander or witness inappropriate behavior at some time in our lives. This program identifies a continuum of inappropriate behavior that contributes to a culture of sexual violence and asks that each member of the UWM community commit to intervene. Students will come to explore safe, individualized strategies that reflect an appropriate level of intervention needed for the inappropriate behavior. This prevention program incorporates those predictors that we can reinforce through education: recognition of inappropriate behavior, skill-building, asking for a commitment to intervene, and role modeling.
