Young adults sought for hypertension study

Young adults (ages 18-39) with hypertension face a higher risk of lifetime cardiovascular disease, yet less than half achieve adequate blood pressure control. The MyHEART study is a National Institutes of Health sponsored study evaluating the effectiveness of a hypertension self-management education and coaching program intended to lower blood pressure in young adults.

Anyone between the ages of 18 and 39 with a diagnosis of hypertension or elevated blood pressure readings may initially qualify for study participation, with study centers located in Milwaukee (physician Lisa Sullivan Vedder) and Madison (Heather Johnson).
