Created in 2012, the Girls Who Code Clubs program is a national non-profit organization seeking to close the gender gap in technology. Since then, Girls Who Code Clubs has grown from 20 girls in New York to 10,000 girls in 42 states.<\/p>\n<p>At UWM, the overwhelming interest in the\u00a0first Girls Who Code Club confirmed the interest. Girls from area elementary schools, middle schools and high schools attend free Friday night classes. More than just instruction, it&#8217;s a club experience, with engaging, bonding activities, t-shirts and a spirit of camaraderie.<\/p>\n<p>The club runs approximately the length of a college semester, with weekly two-hour meetings.
